The timeline

  1. Day 0 — surgery day You wake up in recovery and go back to your hotel the same day in a compression garment. Some fluid leakage from incisions is normal.
  2. Days 1–3 Soreness peaks, like a hard workout. Walk gently several times a day. First check-up.
  3. Week 1 Bruising and swelling are most visible. Most people do desk work and light errands. Aftercare treatments help swelling.
  4. Weeks 2–4 Bruising fades; you may feel firmness or lumpiness under the skin — normal while tissue heals. Light exercise resumes.
  5. Months 1–3 Swelling steadily reduces, clothes fit differently. Incision marks fade (around 2 months).
  6. Months 3–6 Skin retracts and the final contour appears. Fat-transfer volume is stable by about 3 months.
